Cornwall Christmas Fair 2024 at the Eden Project

Bake a cake to make a difference: Cornwall Christmas Fair issues sweet rallying cry
Calling home bakers, cake-making extraordinaires and Mary Berry wannabes, it’s time to get your bake on – all in the name of charity!
Volunteer organisers of the Cornwall Christmas Fair have issued a call to action urging bakers across the county to help Cornwall’s struggling communities by baking a cake.
Donated cakes will be sold on The Great Coodes Christmas Cake Stand at this year’s Cornwall Christmas Fair which is set to take place at the Eden Project on Thursday 28 November with a Preview & Shopping Evening the night before (Wednesday 27 November). The Fair is hosted in aid of Cornwall Community Foundation which helps grassroots community groups. Every penny raised by the cake stand will go towards helping those who need it most.
The treat-filled stand will also host a showstopper cake, crafted and donated by The Garden Baker, which can be won at the Fair by correctly guessing its weight (£2 a guess).
“What better way to help a local charity than to get your bake on and whip up a storm in the kitchen,” says Jeni Luke from Coodes, one of the generous Fair sponsors. “Whether you’re a home baker or a professional pastry chef, pull on an apron, double up on your annual Christmas cake making, and show us your skills. We’d also welcome puddings, cupcakes, cookies or other baked goods, and of course, everyone should a grab a ticket to the Fair and come along to fill up on all the tasty donations.”
The Cornwall Christmas Fair will include over 60 stalls from independent makers, drawn from within Cornwall and beyond, offering everything from gift ideas, home accessories and wellness products to artisan food and drink. Last year’s event raised almost £80,000 and benefited a range of local charities through the Cornwall Community Foundation.
Delicious cake donations can be dropped off any of the Coodes offices across Cornwall during office hours in the run-up to the Fair. They should be securely packaged in cellophane with a list of ingredients, any allergy warnings and a best before date.
