Mawnan WI Helford River Trip
10 September
Mawnan WI remember their friend on a Helford River Trip
We were touched to hear from Mawnan WI after their private charter to remember their friend and keen sailor, Veronica Donohue.
This evening’s Helford River trip was organised in memory of Veronica Donohue. Veronica was a keen sailor and artist and enjoyed this very special area.
Our group of 50 Mawnan WI members and friends boarded Moyana at Prince of Wales Pier and received a warm welcome from the crew.
Our skipper, Boris, was a font of local knowledge and pointed out things of interest as we headed to the Helford. The high tide enabled us to explore the upper reaches of the creeks and we were able to appreciate the tranquility and beauty of our surroundings which are not easy to visit. In spite of the rain we enjoyed being on deck for part of the evening as well as socialising down below!
Many of us took picnics and a few bottles of wine were seen so that we could raise a glass to the memory of our friend, Veronica. We appreciate the support of her sons who enabled us to arrange this trip.
