Help The Thirstea Co buy an AED for Carne Beach

The Thirstea Co and raising funds to buy and install an Automatic External Defibrillator at Carne Beach car park on the Roseland

The Thirstea Co are raising £1,500 to enable the purchase and installation of an Automatic External Defibrillator at Carne Beach car park on the Roseland.

Carne beach is an extraordinarily popular beach destiation for holiday makers and locals alike. However, it is remote. A land ambulance Cat 1 response could take as long as 30minutes, minimum, so having an AED to hand could well save a life.

Seth, owner of The Thirstea Co, says

"We realised this summer, after fielding questions on the subject that the nearest AED is in Veryan village, a drive too far in an emergency, especially in the height of summer!

So, as a local business whose customers enjoy and use Carne we thought we help solve this apparent lack of provision, with the help of ojr wonderful crowd of customers and friends

Funds, that are raised will be donated to the Roseland Surgeries Patients Group, who have been spearheading the Roseland’s AED initiative for over a decade. This will mean that the unit purchased will be the same as others locally enabling easier maintainance, checks and indeed spare part availability. It also means that any excess funds will go towards renewing the number of now 10 or 11 year old AEDs around the Roseland.

The unit we fund will be added into the RSPG‘s coverage and will be added to the NHS database of available and accessible AEDs, which is updated by volunteers working with the RSPG

We have been advised the total cost of the AED and a suitable cabinet to house it in will come to around £1300 - £1500.

So, if you can, donate a few quid and we can get another piece of lifesaving equipment on the Roseland!"
