THE FOURTH WALL | Alex Cree and Simon Wright
An exhibition of paintings by Alex Cree and Simon Wright, presented by Tregony Contemporary.
Experience the engaging worlds of Alex Cree and Simon Wright, where art transcends its boundaries to connect with its audience in unexpected ways.

Alex Cree draws inspiration from a vast array of artists such as Titian, Delacroix, Cézanne, and Matisse. Cree’s work spans still life, portraiture, figure compositions, landscape, and townscape, blending life, drawings, and pure imagination. His paintings continuously revise colour and shape to achieve satisfying compositions, capturing the third dimension on a flat canvas and ensuring objects occupy a believable space within his imagined worlds.

Simon Wright’s paintings are inspired by the commonplace and familiar, yet through his process, they take on a skewed logic of their own. Wright creates cardboard models and junk constructions with paintings in mind, transforming everyday items into personal interpretations that blur the lines between art and life. His works invite viewers to explore the intricate details and imaginative worlds he builds from the mundane.

Gallery owners Judi and Brian Green, founders of Tregony Contemporary, said:

‘The Fourth Wall’ not only showcases the distinct artistic visions of Cree and Wright but also emphasises their shared values of colour, composition, and space. This exhibition is an invitation for viewers to break through the traditional role of passive observers and become active participants in the artistic narrative.'
