Truro Christmas Market
8 November - 31 December
Truro’s Christmas Market all set to bring festive sparkle to the city
Christmas in Truro, a picturesque city in Cornwall, is a magical time, blending tradition and festivity. The heart of the celebrations is the Truro Christmas Market, where local artisans showcase their crafts, perfect for unique gifts. The market is set against the backdrop of the stunning Truro Cathedral, which hosts a variety of carol services and Christmas concerts that bring the community together in the spirit of the season.
Kicking off on 22nd November to coincide with the Christmas Lights Switch On, and wrapping up on Christmas Eve, the 33 day-long market on Lemon Quay will once again see alpine-style cabins, street food, a festive bar, and a varied entertainment programme, bringing sparkle to the city throughout the festive season.
In the evenings, Truro’s streets sparkle with twinkling Christmas lights, and shoppers enjoy late-night openings every Wednesday, exploring both the high street and independent stores and indulging in seasonal treats from cosy cafés. The festive atmosphere is further enhanced by street performances, with musicians and choirs filling the air with joyful cheer.
Organised by Truro Farmers Market and Cornwall Event Cabins, a revolving selection of around 70 traders will be taking part in the daily Lemon Quay market, presenting a curated selection of unique gifts as well as all the food and drink you could possibly need for the festive season.
Organiser Stewart Girvan said:
“Our artisan traders are working hard to prepare their handmade, small batch products – from cheeses to chocolates, candles to ceramics – and to kit out their cabins with all the festive feels. There’ll be a cosy bar and a cocktail van, steaming cups of mulled wine and cider, and luxurious hot chocolates to keep the extremities warm.”
He continued:
“Meanwhile our street food supremos are all set to bake perfect mince pies, get those chestnuts roasting, and pile bowls high with spicy curries and sweet crumbles. It really is the most wonderful time of the year – especially for food lovers!”
With a music stage and a daily performance schedule, a giant snow globe for family photo opportunities, and regular appearances by some of Cornwall’s top entertainers and groups, the seasonal magic from Hall For Cornwall’s “giant pantomime fairytale extravaganza”, Jack and the Beanstalk, will spill out onto the streets.
Another 40—50 traders will pop up on Boscawen Street every Wednesday and Saturday; The Boscawen Street Market is a collaboration between Truro Farmers Market and Cornwall Shop Small with the support of Truro BID, helping spread the ‘shop local, shop small’ ethos across the city in the run-up to Christmas.
