The Secrets Out

17 November 2014

The Kings Head at Ruan Lanihorne on the Roseland Peninsula, whose strap line reads 'The Best Kept Secret on the Roseland', has just been awarded the Bronze Medal at last nights Cornwall Tourism's 2014/15 Awards in the Pub of the Year Category at a spectacular Dinner Presentation at The Headland Hotel, Newquay, hosted by Visit Cornwall and Rugby Legend and Master Chef star Phil Vickery.

Having never entered any awards in their 10 years at The Kings Head, owners Andrew & Niki Law are 'absolutely delighted' at being given this prestigious award.

'When we opened in 2004 we set out to produce good local food, cooked simply, with the warmest of welcomes and friendly professional service, and this award is testament to all the hard work our team has put in to achieving this'. Andrew continues, ' and being the only Free house in the finals up against the might of St Austell and Punch Taverns makes this all the more rewarding'.

Malcolm Bell, Head of Visit Cornwall, the Cornwall Development Company tourism service said ' To have so many amazing businesses and individuals who work tirelessly to drive Cornwall's tourism product forward is one of Cornwall' greatest assets. With so many new names on the winners roll, these awards highlight that Cornwall' immense passion for quality is industry wide rather than the reserve of a few.

Councillor Julian German, Portfolio Holder for Economy and Culture continues,' Behind the glamour of the Cornwall Tourism Awards is a rigorous judging process. The trophies are a symbol of hard work, investment and passion, and considering the size of Cornwall's visitor economy, winning one is a highly accomplished feat.'
